Still Alive!! Really!!!!!!

I am still alive and breathing, I know it has been way too long. A lot has been happening and I have been trying too keep busy.

Where do I start, well last post was October and it was a trying month. Ended up in the hospital due to a very fast heart rate and other multiple issues. Had a stress test and failed and then they did a heart cath in which I passed with flying colors!!!!! After a echocardiogram and wearing an event monitor for a week, they have diagnosed me with SVT(superventricular tachycardia) which is now being controlled with heart medication. So now I am good to go. Have been slowly increasing my exercise and working up to a good cardio workout. It has been a challenge to say the least.

Moving on, I have been working on my part-time job, Pampered Chef. It has been a very fun and great way to do what I love to do, cook. I love to cook for people and watch their faces as they try new ways to make dinners, appetizers and desserts much easier on their busy lives. It has been a great way to meet new people too! The long range goal is to make extra money on the side to get out of debt faster(just paying for the oil in winter is a HUGE help).

And to the other fun in my life, YARN!!!!!! I must say that this is my best way to de-stress and relax. The feeling of the yarn in my hands and creating a beautiful piece of clothing or accessory is amazing.
I have been working on finishing projects and looking at what I want to start for the new year. I want to challenge myself more this year. I really want to make socks!!!! I have got the beginning down and then I stop, the heel scares me and I know that once I do it and do it again I will be fine. Just got to dig in and not give up.

The happenings

I have not blogged for a while now, so here is a little update.

I have since got a new job(yeaaa). I now work for a Caradiologist as a Billing Specialist. This is a new area for me and it has be to say the least challenging, but very exciting and fun. The people are wonderful and friendly. They have been willing to teach me the ins and outs of billing. I also back up checkout when the girls are on vacation or sick.

I have been knitting alot for charity and it is very rewarding. I am working on a blanket right now for my husbands family reunion. They will be raffling it to raise money for the reunion.

I have been in the garden alot too, weeding, planting, picking. The tomatoes(beefmasters) are coming in and I will be making pizza/spaghetti sauce with them. We picked three watermelons and they were so sweet and yummy. The sweet potatoes are growing nicely the leaves look great!

Of course I have started another project! This one is short and sweet and will be done in a zip. My LYS (Yarns R Us) is doing a charity blanket and all of us are making a 10 x 10 square. This is part of my favorite thing about this LYS...she likes to do charity work. I really enjoy making things for others in need.

Today is Steven's grad party and I think I am ready to go. Food is made, gifts done and ideas are all settled in my mind(and that was a challenge). It will be a full and busy party( about 35-40 people). He will have a great time!

Busy, Busy week

This will be a very busy week. Besides my business going well and keeping me hopping, I am getting ready and organizing my son(Steven) graduation party for Saturday. I can't believe he is done with school! What a wonderful man he has grown into.

We are holding a graduation party in the back yard and having wonderful friends and family over! There will be lots of goodies to eat and fun times to be had. Pictures will follow.

Are we ready for the HOT temps? Well I guess I am glad that it is not raining everyday, all day like it was. I will take the sun and heat for a while.

I have been working on several knitting projects. I am working on a rug made from leftover yarn projects using Sugar n Cream yarn. It is looking so nice. I will post pictures possibly tomorrow. Also my son's Miami Dolphins Blanket was coming along good...but the heat put a stop to that for now(too hot). I am also working on washcloths to sell as sets.

Finding a new job has been slow with not many replies. I shall keep working and in the meantime enjoy the time off.

Sisters weekend!

So excited for another sister weekend. This will be number 2 in 1 year!!!!!! I so enjoy getting together with them and sharing laughter and stories. This time it is at my house and I cannot wait!

I have some ideas for us if we feel like it....
Yardsaling....of course.
Maybe a cheap movie if a good one is in town.
Crocheting
Cooking..got to take in a market for some fresh produce
Some refreshing drinks on the backporch.
Or absolutely nothing but veggie and movies on TV!

This heart is from the first time we started doing the sister get togethers. It was after our mom passed on to be with Jesus, we felt that we needed to be together and help each other thru this. I know our mom would have loved to have been with us. This piece of bark fell of the tree outside my sisters house and it is in the shape of a heart with a small face on it. Co-incidence or karma?

Unfortunately I am now unemployed and looking for work. Trying to be very positive with it. My mother always said that things happen for a reason and whenever a door is closed God opens a window. So onward and upward.

Applied for Unemployment, redid resume, looked at so many company websites. I think my eyes are crossed..LOL.

In the meantime selling Pampered Chef Products and enjoying the time home.

This weekend I will be making the short treck to Manheim, PA to my sisters house where Iwill be spending some quality time with two sisters! Relaxing, knitting/crocheting, sipping tea, maybe taking in some thift shops and markets! We do this every year since our Mom passed on and it has become a very therapeutic weekend for all of us!

Slowly, but surely I have been working on these blankets. I will soon have them both finished. I am on the down side of the diagonal granny dishcloth pattern. I really like this pattern and it is so quick and easy.

And of course, this is my all time favorite pattern so far the continous Granny Square. I was thinking of Spring colors with this one.

Of course, Mr. Schnitzel had to get in the picture taking...he is such a ham! Basking in the sunlight trying to stay warm in this cold, cold winter we are having.....brrrrrrrrr.

Next on the agenda is an afghan for Steven maybe in the continous Granny Square. Guess what colors....you guessed it Miami Dolphins!!!!

Only a mother would do this for her son. Her mother loves the Steelers. Go Steelers!!!!!!

I thought I would look for fabric in my craft shelves to see if I could find something big enough and matched by downstairs powder room. I have a built in wall shelf that stores the cleaning supplies that has no door on and it looks awful. I could not believe that I found a perfect match with two of the main colors of the powder room and it is the perfect side with extra to spare. I am going to take that extra and make a skirt for the sink! So in vintage looking.

I am putting up pictures of it still not sure what the picture on the pattern is, but it is neat. Anyone have ideas?????

I am so excited....I cannot wait to start this project. I need to finish the two other blankets that I have in progress and then I can start it. I think it is so pretty, I just have to decide what colors I want to use. I definitely want to use the white, but the star color I have a few colors to choose from that I like.

I am also finishing up a scarf and dishcloth for charity. I think my special focus for charity this year will be scarves. So many children go without scarves in the winter and I want to help them.

Nikki went back to college today, guess I won't be seeing her until Spring break(I hope). She is always busy and involved in so much at college that I never know what she gets herself into..LOL. She loves it and I am sooo happy for her.

Steven has been busy finishing up his Senior year of high school, bowling and checking out colleges. He has been accepted to The Art Institute of Philadelphia and waiting to hear from Drexel. I can't believe my baby will be going off to college this year....the years have gone way too fast.

I just can't seem to grasp that it is November 1st already. I really am not ready for the holidays. Sometimes I would like to just skip over them. Anybody else feel like that? Really, I find it so exhausting and too busy, I would love to slow it down and be able to just enjoy each and every moment.

Okay, back to reality...LOL I am knitting up a frenzy right now, trying to get Christmas projects done. I have several things on the needles right now. I am determined to finish my first pair of socks just for myself!!!!! I can't wait to try them on. I will post a pic when they are done.

Thinking of getting my Christmas cards done now so that I can relax in December more( ha ha did I just say that!) .

What a beautiful day here in Lenhartsville, PA. Sun is bright and warm, 70 degrees(can you believe it). Great day for some washing, cooking, and knitting/crochet!

I cooked up 3 lbs of chicken and put them in several freezer containers, 1/2lb of ham cut up and in the freezer, lettuce cut of for the week.

Busy week

I must say that it has been a busy week, with Dr appointments, Dentists..I had a tooth and abscess removed on Monday(still hurting), daughter had tooth filled yesterday and the back to college. Today the son goes to dentist for cleaning and hubby goes to urologist. WHEW!!! Way too many doctors.

On the needles right now are washcloths(Christmas gift), Miami Dolphin Blanket(for the son), mittens for charity. I never seem to have enough time to knit.

Yesterday Nikki & Steven went for the mail and on the way back spotted a mother and her six kittens. Well you know they just had to stop and visit and play. They were so cute. We left them with some dry food from home. I love when Nikki is home from college...Steven and her are so close they have so much fun together.

Time to go...need to finish getting ready for work.

I know we really need the rain but, 5-6 inches!!! Hurrincane Nicole is full of alot of water and pouring down on us! It really is beautiful though and sounds so nice and relaxing. Enjoying a cup of tea before work while listening to the rain.

Labor Day Weekend

Our cat, "Mr. Schnitzel" loves getting his picture taken. He thinks he is King of the house! LOL

What a gorgeous weekend it has been. The weather is perfect! Spent to much time outside enjoying the sun and fresh air. Picnics, mini-golf, ladder ball, food and more food. So muc fun and relaxation!

I finished a baby washcloth, a mitten ornament for charity. Started 6 x 6 crochet squares for a baby blanket. So much I want to do and so little time. Oh well, must keep going.

You know how time just slips away, well it really got away from me. So much has been going on. We have moved to a beautiful house in the country and it is so enjoyable to knit/crochet out on the back porch. :)

Daughter starting her Junior year in College(OMG) and son is a Senior in high school(holy cow)!. I can remember bringing them home from the hospital like it was yesterday.

I will try and get back to posting more and putting up pics from the handmade items.

Here we are March 1 already. I would really like to slow down the days and not have them fly by so fast. Where does it all go?

On the needles is Steven's new square for afghan, a washcloth for charity, and a lapghan for charity. Yesterday we had a family gathering at an Old Inn that is closing(so sad) and my dear sister made all of her sisters beautiful crocheted washcloths. The colors were all so pretty. Thanks sis!

Regarding the weather, I am really hoping the white stuff is done. I really need some warmth and spring sun. I have been hearing birds chirping in the morning and it sure does bring lovely thoughts into the heart and mind.

Well, I need to finish my scramble eggs and toast and then off to work. Hope everyone has an awesome day!

My last post was in November, way too long. I have been busy with knitting, crocheting, wathing Steven bowl and just being me.

I have done alot of projects for charity and didn't take pictures. I need to be better at that.

Here are some pictures of squares I am making for my son's Miami Dolphins blanket he wants. I am making 7 x 9 squares of these two colors using Cascade 220 super wash. I am making different patterns for each square and then crocheting them together with white. He loves the squares and has been picking them out too.

My dear sister Cheryl found a Vougue Knitting Stich-A-Day calenday on sale after Christmas and we have been having lots of fun with it. Lets see if she likes them. Here are the ones that are finished so far:

Nice Knitters of Muhelnberg

On Monday, november 2, 2009 our knitting group Nice Knitters gathered for a luncheon to celebrate a momentus occasion. We had knitted/crocheted 5,012 pieces of items for local charity groups. Our goal was 5,000 and we made it!

Berks Visiting Nurse Association Hospice Program has many volunteers. Some work directly with our patients providing companionship and offering respite to their caregivers. Others work in our office supplying much appreciated clerical and administrative support. Still others work on projects from their homes.

The Nice Knitters of Muhlenberg use their time and talents producing beautiful handmade items that are donated to various not-for-profit organizations in Berks County. Berks Visiting Nurse Association Hospice Program is one of those lucky organizations!

Nice Knitters of Muhlenberg

Judy Sullivan, founder of Nice Knitters, began the group in 2007.
There were three members the first year and they made 160 items. In January 2007, they received some publicity and their ranks grew to 30 members ranging in age from 12 to 83 years of age.

Last year their efforts produced 1,685 handmade items! They make hats, mittens, scarves, slippers, booties, Christmas stockings, lap and shawls. They also make helmet liners for our soldiers.
They welcome donations of knitting needles and crochet needles and yarn.

If you like to knit or crochet and would enjoy making new friends and sharing some laughs, consider joining the Nice Knitters at the Muhlenberg Library on Mondays from 11 am-1 pm or on Wednesdays from 6 pm-8pm. The library has been very supportive of their efforts by providing space for the group to meet and accepting donations of yarn and supplies

We had a wonderful time in Chincoteague, VA. Spent a weekend with friends at their cottage. They showed us around and took us to Assiteague Island to see the horses. Unfortunately, the horses were hiding. But we did go the the beach and my dearest friend and hubby took a nice walk on the beach. Want to live a the beach so much. The fresh salty water smell makes me feel so good.

I sorry but I really need to post this. I just read this in our local paper and have to share this with the world. How sad our country is right now that our schools are barring the President of the United States from speaking to the children of America. Here is the article.

Rush Limbaugh and other fear mongers argue President Barack Obama secretly plans to brainwash America's students by talking to them about academic goals in a national broadcast Tuesday.

Well, Mr. President, I implore you:

Please brainwash our students.Brainwash them to believe that the First Amendment's guarantee of free speech applies to everyone, including the president of the United States.

Brainwash them to defy the censorship inflicted on them by the paranoid, short-sighted school superintendents who banned the Obama speech in some Berks County school districts - and others across the country.

Brainwash them to understand that generations of men and women sacrificed their lives on battlefields throughout the world so they could be free from government censorship - an ideal yet to take root in a good chunk of Berks County.

Brainwash them to learn to respect others who are different from them, to embrace diversity as the hallmark of an emerging age.

Peach Cobbler for Nikki and Mom! It is so delicious and refreshing.

Oh the trials and errors of changing my blog. What a time I had but, I finally did it. I hope you like it! It took quite a while to find one that worked and then some reading on my part and then Wa La!!!! I think it looks so pretty.

Now back to some yarn talk. I hear the August 16, there is a 150th Anniversary of Emmaus, PA(where my dear sister lives)

and there is a new Yarn Shop(Conversational Threads).

So my friend Denise and I will be traveling up there for the day, hopefully Nikki can join us and we can check out Emmaus, food and fun and maybe stop in to see the sister. Maybe she can come with us for the day. Oh yea, the farmers market is that Sunday too....yummmmm .

The title says it all. I am so addicted to yarn and patterns, whether it be crochet or knitting. I think I need AAA for yarn. LOL I have way too many UFO's. Although I have just finished the baby afghan for needy baby, and I finished a Lapghan for Hospice, I still have too many. How ever did this happen?(I really do know how.)

So, I have decided that I am determined to finish all the UFO's before starting anything new. Any bet's on this?(LOL). My dear hubby already has a huge bet that it's not going to happen. He definitely knows that I am addicted to yarn and patterns. He here's the ooooh and ahhhhs coming from the computer room and just laughs.:):)

What a beautiful, fun and delightful weekend. We had a small gathering of friends on the 4th and the food was delicious. Steven's burgers are AWESOME. Now everyone wants burgers from S & S Burgerjoint. LOL. I do believe we need to have the families over(sisters,brothers,dad, and grandchildren) over for some burgers. Oh, what fun!

On Sunday, sorry to say, I missed a family picnic at my sister's Carols house. I bet they had a great time and they definitely had perfect weather for swimming! Hi to all of you! Love you and missed you. And sending hugs to all.

But, on the other hand the reason we didn't go is because Nikki worked from 12- 5 and Steven had a bowling tournament. Let me just say, I am a very proud mama. Steven and his bowling partner placed 2nd out of 25 teams to win Scholarship money. They bowled so totally amazing. They had to each bowl 4 games, Steve's first game was a tough one(148), but then he got the feel of the lanes and kicked some butt...203, 197, 223. WOW. I wouldn't have missed it for the world! Great job.

It has been too long. I haven't felt like blogging. I have been too busy doing my new Joy, CROCHETING! I am addicted to it right now, I do throw a little knitting in there just to keep myself refreshed on it. Here is some projects that I have been working on.

This is a blanket of squares that our knitting group received and we put them together for charity. We are in the process of making Lapghans for our local Hospice. They are given to the Hospice patients and then passed onto the families. The patients love them and they are small enough as not to be to heavy on their legs. It gives me great joy to make these, give them to someone who truly needs it and their face just lights up!

This is so fun to make. I really enjoy the colors. They are refreshing and happy. It is a Granny Square Afghan. I am using Classic Worsted Tapestry Yarn(universal Yarn Inc.) The colors are Prairie Sand and Tangerine. It is so soft and easy to work with. I can't wait until it is complete, it will be a big and beautiful afghan for someone special in my life.(sorry no names yet).

Now for the other half of my life, Nikki is working at Candies(a local ice cream shop) so yummy. They have the best Mango Gelati! She likes working there alot and the owners are so nice. Steven has been bowling ALOT and doing awesome. He bowls on a Monday league with an average of 197 and on a Thursday league with an average of 206. Holy cow I can no longer get even close to keeping up with him. Hey Cheryl, Candy and Carol lets go bowling! Oh what fun we would have.

I just finished a project for me. I was always doing them for someone else, so I decided to do one for myself. Of course, I need to make Steven's Notre Dame Blanket and Karl wants a blanket now and more dishcloths were added to my pile. The girls at work would like the M&M dishcloths. So I am really glad I finished my project.

Hope you like it.

But of course, I started another blanket(I just can't help myself) I love the color of the first section...check it out.
And I just thought I would throw this picture in of Nikki(my daughter). She was in a fashion show for the Keep it Green Fashion show(or something like that). Her dress was made out of recycled plastic(I think). She looks like a model.

Let me tell you that a weekend with the sisters is the best time anyone can ask for! I spent three wonderful days with three of my sisters. The best sisters in the world!

This is Carol, me and Cheryl.

Unfortunately, the other sister(Candy) is behind the camera. But fortunatley for us she is, she takes great pics!

We spent time at a great market in Lancaster and took home some really good food for supper.

On Saturday we spent the day on Litiz, I love this town, so quaint and the homes are kept in their natural and historical condition.

The most special occasion happend on Friday evening that really set the tone for everything. This fell off my sisters tree in her front lawn and think Mom was saying hello and joining us. This was truly amazing and gave me goosebumps.

To my sisters I leave this poem.

What a wonderful and relaxing weekend I had. I got to spend the weekend with two of ny knitting friends. We spent the afternoon knitting at the shop and then had supper together at a local masonic lodge. We then went to the Yarn's R Us owner's house. She owns Onyx Cave and her house is awesome. Is really country and relaxing and beautiful. We had a great time playing Triple Yahtzee and drinking her bottle of wine all(yummmm) so delics and giddy we got.
Then the rest of the night we knitted/crocheted and watched movies til midnight. I haven't been til midnight for so long I can't remember(getting way to old) LOL.

I slept so good and woke up to all kinds of birds singing to me, oh how I miss the country sounds and smells. Enjoyed a cup of Cappucino outside and breathed in the wonderful smells and sights. Had a great breakfast that Kim made and a wonderful shower( I thought it was Spa like) . Funny how things seem better when you are away from home.

Then we went to our local Historical Society house and helped our friend Denise sit the house. People come in from everywhere to see the history of Hamburg. It was really neat to see the old dresses and hats and work places.

I truly enjoyed it and wish to do that more often. It made my whole mind feel fresh and new again.

These are the projects I am working on right now. Way TOO many! I don't know what I am thinking. I do know that I get so excited about something new I see and I want to do it.
I am so into Crocheting right now. I smell trouble. LOL
This is a scraf that I am knitting to match the hat I already did. It was supposesd to be finished so I could wear the hat and scarf this winter. It didn't happen, of course.This is a new project, socks! I started them for my Dear Hubby and I am not sure I like doing them. So tedious! But I will muster on slowly. He really wants a pair. OMG a Pair, that means I have to do another one!

My new addiction, Crocheting. I am so addicted to fast production and neat patterns I can make. This is going to be a blanket for me! It is made with

Moda*Dea Tweedle Dee Shaded Yarn and Fun Fur! I love Fun Fur!

The Moda*Dea is so soft and snuggly and so pretty I can't wait to finish this.

It has been a very productive weekend and a fun one. Some of the knitters from our yarn shop got together for a Cookie Swap. Boy did we make cookies and they are so delicious! The son and hubby are really enjoying them!

Well I need to go for now, no knitting/crocheting til I get home and make supper. Then I can start again.

I just finished a Modern Baby Blanket. It is in non-traditional colors. The mother is very much into earth tones even in the babies room. So I went with earthy colors. It will be nice for either a boy or a girl. I hope she likes it.

The mother is not into the usual pink or blue.

I think it turned out very nice and I really like how the color sequence came out.

I trimmed it with a row of single crochet and then a row of scallop edging.

"Be Mine" Pudding Shake

What you Need
3 cups milk, divided
1 cup vanilla ice cream
1 pkg. (4-serving size) JELL-O Vanilla Flavor Instant Pudding, divided
1 cup strawberry ice cream
Several drops red food coloring

Make It

POUR 1-1/2 cups of the milk into blender container. Add vanilla ice cream and scant 1/3 cup of the dry pudding mix; cover. Blend on high speed 15 seconds or until smooth.
Pour evenly into 4 (8-oz.) glasses. Freeze 30 minutes.
POUR remaining 1-1/2 cups milk into blender container. Add remaining dry pudding mix, strawberry ice cream and food coloring; cover.

Blend on high speed 15 seconds or until smooth.

Pour evenly over vanilla layer in each glass.
SERVE with straws and a fresh strawberry garnish, if desired.

Prep time:15. Total time: 45

Serves: 4

I hope everyone is having a great New Year. It has been a while since I blogged, kinda of in a computer funk. I have been knitting and knitting. So many projects I want to do and so little time.

Here is one of the projects I have finished. It is a Friendship Shawl from Debbie Macombers Friendship Shawl pattern book. I modified it slightly by not making is so long. The pattern calls for a 72" long shawl, I made it shorter so it can be pinned with a very pretty pin of the friends choice. It was a birthday/Christmas gift for her. She is the owner of Yarn's R Us, which is our local yarn shop. She is the best teacher and friend anyone could ask for.

I think I am going to make alot more of Debbie Macomber's shawls, they are so pretty and easy to do and make great gifts for friends and sisters!

Well, due to the Stupid Rain, King Frost is now Nov 1 , same time, same place. But it makes me mad, because Nikki can't make it, Cheryl, Carol and Christine can't make it either. HAMBURG — With high fuel bills and winter looming on the horizon, it’s time to pay homage to King Frost.On Oct. 25, thousands will travel to northern Berks County for the annual parade dedicated to King Frost that ushers in the winter months.This year brings the 45th anniversary of the parade, committee chairwoman Dianne Leibensperger said.“We’re having a special pewter anniversary pin made this year in addition to the regular booster pin we sell every year,” said Leibensperger, who said the pins are collector’s items among parade devotees.
This year’s pin, a silver-and-red snowflake surrounding the bearded and crowned visage of King Frost, was designed by Randy Flammer, Hamburg, a member of the parade planning committee.The booster pins are available at Hamburg businesses and will be sold at the parade.The parade, which lasts about 2� hours, begins at 7 p.m. on Port Clinton Avenue, marches down Fourth Street to Maple Street and ends on Third Street.Parking is available at lots through the borough.The King Frost Carnival, as it was previously called, was first held in Hamburg in 1910 and then intermittently through the years, interrupted by two World Wars and the Great Depression.In 1964, the Hamburg Jaycees took over with an eight-division parade and more than 2,200 marchers.This year, the parade will feature 12 bands, more than 20 floats, dozens of community groups and thousands of individual costumed marchers, all led by King Frost, who has been portrayed for the past 27 years by Domer Leibensperger, a Hamburg funeral director and businessman.Domer Leibensperger said the parade is a homecoming for many locals.“We’re living in trying times — our country is at war, we’re faced with a financial crunch, heating oil and gas prices are rising and we’re about to have a presidential election,” he said. “Some people wonder why should we continue to celebrate with King Frost.”But through it all, the parade will always go on, Leibensperger said.“As small-town America, we must hold onto the values that we have been built on for many years,” he said. “Family entertainment on an autumn weekend brings togetherness and contentment without a huge expense.”In support of the troops from the Hamburg area and Berks County, including the soldiers recently deployed last month, the Hamburg Area Woman’s Club will be marching in the King Frost parade and collecting donations for Operation Enduring Freedom from spectators along the parade route.

Yesterday, the hubby and I spent the day with the college girl. It was so nice to see her. She looks so good and so happy. I do believe the college life suits her perefectly. We took her to eat at Cali Burittos(awesome) and she loves that place. We then spent the afternoon with my sister and her family. She loves her Aunt Candy and Uncle Clinton and the girls(Theresa, Hanna, & Maisie) We love them too. It was a great day even though it really rained all day. We didn't mind, Nikki's smile lit up the whole day.

She loves all her classess and professors. Her favorite class is Pschy 1 and Art Therapy.

She has accomplished so much since she has been there. She is 2012 class Secretary, she was nomited to attend a Leadership Retreat in the Poconos, and auditioned for the Modern Group which she made!

She is growing up so fast and doing it with such grace and style! I love to see how she grows! Of course, I am the mom so I am really partial to her(lol).

Well, enough rambling on, time to go do some wash and knitting!

I have been knitting like a fien. And I am loving it! I have way too many projects started and need to finish some of them. I will post pics soon.

Nikki was home from college for the weekend and it was a great to see her. We had a great time and I am glad she was able to hang with her two favorite girlfriends. They all needed the time together. We also had a very nice time at a family picnic. I hope she enjoyed the time as much as we all did. She has been very busy at college and seems to have gotten herself organized and settled in. Very busy and lots of work to do! She loves it!

I need to go knit now so I can finish some of these projects!

Well, I made it through 1 week. Nikki has been at college for 1 week and it was strange not
to have her around everyday. She has called(thank God), she knows mom needs to here her
voice. Thanks Nikki.
I am sure that it will get easier as the time goes by.

On my end here, more knitting....way too many projects going on right now. I seriously need
to finish one soon. I am making these really cool washcloths. I working on a college scarf for a
friend, working on a blanket for Steven and a kitchen rug. WHEW! Way too much.

Well, the summer went way too fast. Now we are in the countdown to college. Nikki leaves for college on 8/21/08. So we have countdown days. She is almost all packed and her room is filled with bags and luggage and containers and you name it.
I just can't believe it has come so soon. She was just a little girl not so long ago.(a few tears). She is so grown up and mature. So beautiful and well rounded(just alittle proud).
I know that I will have tears when I have to turn away and so goodbye. But I know she is ready and is very excited about her new life. It will be different without her in the house dancing everywhere and picking on her bro. Steven is missing her already, they are so close. He says they will e-mail everyday!

side of Steven. He looks pretty cool!

And of course, we cannot forget Football. They had fun with this one,
trying to get him in motion.
They did a great job and Nikki took some awesome pictures.

My friend denise taught me a new stitch and I am addicted!
These are fun and easy to whip up. I think they might
become Christmas gifts.

It was absolutely amazing! It was gone in minutes and everyone had smiles plastered on their faces. The kids and hubby say this is a keeper. Very easy to make and quick to put together.
Nikki made this one by herself and did a knock out job!

Fresh Corn Quiche

3 large eggs 1/2 small onion, coarsely chopped
1 T all purpose flour 1 T Sugar
1 t. salt 1 1/3 cups half and half
3 T butter, melted 2 cups fresh corn kernels(cut from about 2 ears)
1 deep-dish frozen pie crust thawed

Preheat oven to 375 F. Combine first 5 ingredients in processor;
blend until onion is finely chopped. Add half and half and butter;
process just until blended. Transfer to large bowl. Mix in corn.
Pour into crust and bake until filling is slightly puffed and top is golden,
about 50 minutes. Transfer to rack; cool slightly and Serve Warm.

They are such goofballs! These are two of Nikki's friends she dances with in Polynesian. This is a wonderful show to see. All the material comes from Hawaii
and all costumes are handmade by the parents/kids.

More goofing around and lots of smiles, even after three shows. I get exhausted just from watching them dance.

New project

Here is my new project I have been working on. It will be a kitchen rug. This has been fun to make so far and is turning out to be really nice looking. I think I will enjoy using this when I am finished.

I really like the pattern for this rug.

I will post the pattern if anyone would like it.

World Wide Knit in Public Day June 14

World Wide Knit in Public Day was started in 2005 by Danielle Landis. This year’s event is June 14th, 2008. Her idea is to get knitters together in public. Knitting is often a solitary act, but anyone who has been to a knitting guild meeting, a stitch and bitch, a class, or a gathering at a local yarn shop, knows how much fun it is to knit with others. Share stories and get help. Relax and have fun in the company of other knitters. I have not gone to a knit in public event, but those who have say they are going back. I can imagine the response of the public who happen by the happy knitters. They are probably a little hesitant, if you have ever knit in a coffee shop or on a plane, you know what I mean. The uninitiated public won’t know what to make of the public knitters. I suspect they will be surprised at the variety of ages of the knitters. Many knitters are young, old, black, white, active, couch-potatoes, men, women, tattooed, pierced, prim and proper. The local group in my town also brought extra chairs and supplies for those who wanted to learn or re-learn to knit. People sat down, picked up the sticks and had fun with knitting.

The time has come!
